Caesar Chandiga turned back the clock on Sunday morning, producing a composed and ruthless display to reclaim the national pool crown at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
Facing the in form Rashid Wagaba in the men’s final, Chandiga weathered early pressure as his opponent raced into a 2–0 lead.
He stayed patient, waiting for an opening. It came when Wagaba made costly errors on the black, and Chandiga pounced, reeling off four straight frames to swing the match in his favour.
From that point, the final followed Chandiga’s rhythm. Wagaba tried to rally and briefly closed the gap, but the former champion’s experience proved decisive. He controlled the table, punished mistakes and closed out a convincing 9–5 win.
The victory made Chandiga only the third player to win the national championship twice and settled bragging rights in a familiar league rivalry.
Both finalists hail from Upper Volta, outshining Roxberry’s challenge after captain Ibra Sejjemba and top seed Joseph Kasozi fell in the semifinals.
When the final ball dropped, Chandiga sank to the floor in celebration, sharing an emotional embrace with his Zambian wife and mother.
Earlier, the women’s final produced a breakthrough moment of its own. Rashida Mutesi claimed her first national title with a composed 7–4 win over defending champion Marion Kisakye.

Mutesi surged into a 3–0 lead and, despite a brief wobble as Kisakye threatened a comeback, she regained control.
Calm and focused, Mutesi closed out the match to seal the biggest victory of her career.
