Nairobi United, debutants in the FKF Premier League, have strengthened their squad with the signing of Ugandan forward Charles Waibi on Thursday, 15 January.

The versatile attacker, nicknamed “The Engineer,” arrives from Uganda Premier League side NEC FC, becoming the club’s seventh signing this month.

Waibi, 24, joins a growing Ugandan presence at Nairobi United, following left-back Mustapha Kizza, midfielder Titus Ssematimba, and former Express FC midfielder Shafik Ssebyala.

“He brings elite skill as a winger, forward, and attacking midfielder. His arrival adds crucial firepower to our frontline,” the club said on social media, adding: “Let’s make history.”

Born in 2002 in Jinja, Uganda, Waibi discovered football at Iganga Boys Primary School. A Civil Engineering graduate, he began his professional career with Kigezi HomeBoyz in the 2021/22 season, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists to help the club earn promotion to the FUFA Big League.

At NEC FC, Waibi quickly became a key figure in the squad’s push toward continental competitions. He had already impressed Nairobi United in last year’s CAF Confederation Cup, scoring in a 1–1 draw in Kenya.

Now on a two-year deal with Nairobi United, Waibi aims to bring his domestic and continental form to Kenya’s top flight, adding depth and attacking flair to a team eager to make its mark in the FKF Premier League.
