Uganda’s strong run at the Islamic Solidarity Games hit another high on Tuesday night as Samuel Cherop and Abel Chebet pulled off a superb double podium finish in the men’s 10,000m final in Riyadh.

Under the bright lights of Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium, Cherop fought through a tense front pack to finish second in 29:06.58.

Chebet powered home moments later, clocking 29:07.63 to claim bronze and secure a 2–3 Ugandan sweep that lifted the country’s tally to nine medals.

Their results sparked celebrations back home and injected fresh confidence into a team enjoying one of its best campaigns at the Games.

Cherop’s silver, however, is still under review after Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew appeared to impede him in the final stretch. The technical committee will decide before the medal ceremony.

For now, the night belongs to the Ugandan pair, whose grit has set the tone for a busy Wednesday on the track.

Tom Dradriga lines up in the men’s 1500m final, Halimah Nakaayi returns in the women’s 800m, Hadoli runs the men’s 400m, and Charity and Risper Cherop contest the women’s 5000m.

Wrestling also takes center stage with Veronica Ayo in the women’s 57kg category, while para-powerlifter Dennis Mbaziira competes on Friday.

Uganda has already earned medals in swimming, table tennis, and boxing and with momentum firmly on their side, the chase for more in Riyadh continues.
