The day belonged to Chris Yussuf Namuhoranye. The opener struck a brilliant 123 not out off 91 balls, hitting 14 fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 135.16. His knock carried Nile to 209 for 5 in 24 overs and set up the win.

Nile lost Aguma Danavin off the first ball, but Namuhoranye steadied the innings. Nsimiire Ivan added 28, while Jimson Wankona chipped in with a quick 18. Extras also boosted the total, with St. John’s conceding 27 wides and two no-balls.

Despite a few wickets falling along the way, Namuhoranye stayed to the end and ensured Nile posted a challenging score.

In reply, St. John’s never recovered from a disastrous start. Jimson Wankona tore through the top order, taking four wickets for 12 runs in five overs. Within four overs, St. John’s were 12 for 5, with three batters dismissed for ducks.

Rubangakene Daniel fought back with an unbeaten 85 off 65 balls, but he lacked support as St. John’s finished on 128 for 8 in 24 overs.

Kasozi Jeff Mwesigwa picked up two wickets, while Kato Wilson added one to complete a disciplined bowling effort.

After being named Player of the Match, Namuhoranye spoke about adapting to local conditions.

Nile Cricket Club’s Chris Yusuf Namuhoranye handed bat by Umpire Sharon Athoula after raising century.

“The pitch was a bit dry and slow, but Alhamdulillah I managed to play through to the last ball,” he said.

“Pitches here in Uganda are slightly lower than those in Kigali, so it’s good experience to adapt.”

Elsewhere, Wanderers Cricket Club’s match against Soroti City was washed out due to heavy rain.

In the Bronze Group, Centurion Cricket Club beat Mukono Development Cricket Club by 41 runs at Florida Oval, while Centurion A defeated Iganga CC by 79 runs at GM Sugar Oval.
