City Oilers’ Defeat to Ndejje Nullified

Eight-time National Basketball League champions City Oilers have had their only defeat of the season nullified after Ndejje University, who beat them 88-80, were found to have used an ineligible player.

The ineligible player was Gatuang Thuok, who had not been assented to by the FUBA Competitions Council upon being signed by Ndejje University.

The decision comes as a boost to City Oilers, who are gearing up to take on second-placed KIU Titans later on Friday.

The reigning champions will be keen to make it a double over the Titans, having beaten them 79-51 in the first round.

KIU Titans lost their most recent game, a 57-61 defeat to Our Saviour, and have lost two of their past five games. This gives City Oilers another edge heading into the tie.

The decision to nullify the Ndejje University win is a positive one for the integrity of the National Basketball League.

It shows that the league is committed to ensuring that all teams compete on a level playing field.
