Pop the Champagne! Make way for the Champion! Once again, City Oilers are National Basketball League Champions.
The City Oilers bested the Kansanga-based KIU Titans, to win 4-2 in a best-of-seven series.
City Oilers won the first two games in the series before KIU Titans drew one back to avoid any mentions of a clean sweep.
The Oilers then went 3-1 ahead before the Titans pulled another one back. On Wednesday evening, the Oilers won 78-63 to claim game 6 and grab the series.
The victory makes it City Oiler’s 9th crown in a row, further cementing their case as one of, if not the greatest sports team in Ugandan history.
Veteran Jimmy Enabu led all scorers with 19 points, closely followed by the mercurial Fayeed Bable who registered 18.
Peter Obleng led the Titans’s scorers with 15 points, on top of another defensive show from Joseph Chuma who registered 11 rebounds (9 defensive).
