National Basketball League | Wednesday action

  • KIU Titans Vs City Oilers – 9 PM
  • KCCA Leopards Vs Miracle Ravens – 7 PM

City Oilers aim to stretch their winning streak to four games when they face struggling KIU Titans in Wednesday night’s National Basketball League action at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

After a shaky start to the season, the ten-time champions have found their rhythm with wins over Rezlife Saints, KCCA Panthers, and a 44-point blowout of Kampala Rockets. Now at 10 wins, the Oilers are pushing for a strong finish as the playoffs approach.

Their opponents, the Titans, have endured a sharp decline from last season’s finalists to relegation-bound strugglers. With just two wins all season, KIU’s decision to stick with only university players has backfired, leaving them outmatched and out of the top flight.

For the Oilers, new signings Chad Bowie and Kurt Wegscheider are on the roster but unlikely to debut soon. Dane Miller is already in Uganda, though his registration is pending, while Germaine Roebuck’s status remains uncertain.

The Oilers’ remaining regular-season games against JT Jaguars, Victoria University, and Nam Blazers will shape their playoff path.

Later in the evening, KCCA Leopards face Miracle Ravens in a crucial women’s showdown with redemption on the line.

The Leopards were shocked 75–80 by Miracle in the first round, one of just three losses this season. That game saw Mariam Namukwaya drop 31 points and 13 rebounds, while Tracy Namugosa added 23.

KCCA struggled from deep, hitting just 4-of-23 three-pointers, and star guard Shakirya Nakirya had a rare scoreless night.

With two games left, including a tough test against the Magic Stormers, KCCA must win out to leapfrog JKL Lady Dolphins for the top playoff seed.

Miracle Ravens, led by coach Arnold Katabi, have had an up-and-down season. At 6–9 and on a four-game skid, including losses to KIU Rangers, JKL, and JT Lady Jaguars, they’ll be looking to spoil KCCA’s plans.
