Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) and Mandela Group of Companies have renewed their partnership for the 7th annual City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge. The tournament, scheduled to take place from October 17th to 20th, will feature both team and individual competitions.
The launch event was held on September 18th at the City Tyres headquarters in Kampala. UBA CEO Simon Mugabi emphasized the tournament’s significance, stating, “This is a special event that attracts a large number of participants, including youth, adults, and corporate teams.”
Online registration is now open for the tournament. Players from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo, Burundi, and South Sudan are expected to compete.
Annet Nakamya, the head of UBA, expressed gratitude to Mandela Group of Companies through City Tyres brand Linglong for their continued support.
“Their partnership has been instrumental in providing valuable opportunities for our players,” she said. “Many of our top players today started their journey in this tournament,” she said.
Herbert Bashasha, the chief marketer at Mandela Group of Companies, confirmed that City Tyres will fully sponsor the event. He highlighted the tournament’s inclusive nature, stating, “It caters to players of all ages, from children to adults over 50.”
The City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge will be hosted at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
