- Avengers vs Panthers – 11 AM
- Ewes vs She Wolves – 1 PM
- Thunderbirds vs Black Pearls – 3 PM
The 2025 Nile Special Women’s Rugby Premiership is set to wrap up in dramatic fashion this Saturday, May 17, at Kyadondo Rugby Club, where all remaining matches will be played in a highly anticipated grand finale.
In a show of unity and visibility for the women’s game, the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) Technical Committee, in consultation with all women’s club heads, made the landmark decision to host the final match day at a single venue.
The event promises an electric atmosphere as fans prepare for a full day of action, culminating in the much-anticipated title showdown.
The spotlight fixture at 3:00 PM will see defending champions Black Pearls take on their fierce rivals, the Thunderbirds, in a winner-takes-all encounter.
The Black Pearls have been in imperious form this season, winning all 11 of their matches, and currently sit five points clear at the top of the table.
However, only a win will guarantee them the crown, as the Thunderbirds whose only loss came at the hands of the Pearls earlier in the season remain hot on their heels.
Both teams are expected to field key players returning from the Lady Cranes Rugby 15s camp, adding more firepower to the already highly anticipated clash.
The Black Pearls will look to Namatovu Yvonne, Musanabera Jenifer, Acanit Hellen and Kobusigye Sharifah while the Thunderbirds will be boosted by the presence of Ayaa Flaviah.
“This season has been one of the most competitive we’ve seen,” said Prossy Nakakande, URU Executive Committee member and Women’s Representative.
“Bringing all teams together for the final match day reflects our commitment to unity and visibility for women’s rugby.”
Beatrice Atim, URU’s Women’s Rugby Development Officer, echoed the sentiment: “Kyadondo has always been central to Uganda’s rugby story. Hosting the grand finale here provides a great platform to celebrate the players, clubs, and community that continue to drive women’s rugby forward.”
The action kicks off at 11 AM with Avengers facing Panthers followed by Ewes vs She Wolves at 1 PM setting the stage for the title decider.
