Coach Fred Kajoba to be buried on Sunday in Kiwawu, Mityana

The body of the late Uganda Cranes goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba Kisitu will be laid to rest this Sunday according to the tentative send off program.

According to his long-time friend and seasoned journalist Ruben Luyombo, Kajoba’s final resting place will be at his ancestors home in Kiwawu, Mityana district.

However, the Ugandan football legend’s family, friends, sports fraternity, and the entire country at large will have numerous opportunities to bid farewell in a befitting manner.

The body will arrive from Tanzania, the country he breathed his last, to Kampala tomorrow and a total of three vigils will be organised.

Coach Kajoba was confirmed dead in a Tanzania health dispensary on Monday, after succumbing to diabetes, an illness that has troubled him for a long time.

His coaching career stretched from army side Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) mainly as Simba, Soltilo Bright Stars, Vipers and lately Tanzania Premier League entity Ihefu Football Club.

Away from club business, he served for more than a decade as Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach and was part of the group that made history to reach two Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon (2017) and Egypt (2019).

During his playing career, Kajoba represented clubs such as; Coffee and Simba. He also served as the national team’s first-choice goalkeeper before transitioning to coaching.
