Calvary FC have parted ways with head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, just five games into their debut season in the Uganda Premier League.
Kintu’s departure follows a difficult start for the Midigo-based side, who have struggled to adapt to life in the top division.
Appointed earlier this year on a two-year deal, Kintu joined Calvary from Women’s Super League side St. Noa Girls Zana, replacing Simon Otim, the man who led the club to their first-ever promotion. Expectations were high, but results didn’t follow.
Under his guidance, Calvary earned only one point from their opening five matches, a 1–1 draw against Maroons FC and suffered defeats to Lugazi (3–1), Buhimba Saints (2–0), KCCA FC (4–2), and Entebbe UPPC FC (4–2).
Kintu, who previously managed Kyetume FC and UCU in the University Football League, leaves with Calvary near the bottom of the table and in urgent need of revival.
In a brief statement, the club thanked Kintu for his service and confirmed that the search for a new head coach is already underway.
