Coach Paul Put speaks out on Cranes squad

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put named a 27-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Guinea and Somalia.

The squad includes a mix of experienced and young players, and Put is confident that they have what it takes to compete at a high level.

“We selected a team that will go to do the job. It’s full of new, young and experienced players. We believe they have what it takes to compete at a high level,” Put said. “We are playing a good team in Guinea that has high quality players.”

The local-based players and officials departed for Morocco on Sunday at 10PM aboard Uganda Airlines to Dubai, from where they will connect to Casablanca with Emirates Airlines.

The foreign-based players will link up with the team in Berkane, Morocco from their respective clubs.

Maroons and Kitara forwards Fred Amaku and Denis Omedi were considered in the final squad following their impressive performances in the league.

Youngster and Masaza Cup MVP Allan Oyirwoth is also part of the team.

Uganda will battle Guinea and Somalia on November 17th and 21st respectively in Group G which also has Algeria and Botswana.
