As the Futsal Super League set for the last matchday of the season with one point making a difference between possible winners, Mengo City and Park FC’s Head coaches weighed up on the chances of their sides to lift the league title.

Mengo City is taking on Crown Lubiri at Old Kampala Futsal Arena, the game is starting at 9:00 pm immediately after Park facing QC Mbarara.

Mengo City Head Coach Abdillahi Abdifatah speaks up ahead of the games on Friday, 16th May 2025.

“We know very well that if we lose, the title is gone. We are ready to fight for the win and become champions, that is our main target.”

Facing Crown Lubiri, Mengo City holds a harder challenge as their opponent is in 5th position with 35 points from 21 games.

Going into the last game of the league, Mengo City leads with 54 points while the challenger, Park FC, is at 53 points.

At 8:00 pm, Park FC shall take to the stage facing QC Mbarara also at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.

Speaking on the title race, Park FC coach Alex Ssegawa said, “We can only control what is in our power, that is to win our game. It is the only thing we can do.”

On the log of 12 teams, Park FC opponent on the night, QC Mbarara, sits in 8th position with 23 points from 21 games.

Through the season, both Mengo City and Park FC have registered 17 wins from 21 games, but the difference comes in that Mengo City has just lost one and drawn three times while Park FC have lost two and drawn two times.

The closing program shall come in at 4:00 pm, with four games taking place before the two major games.

With the season coming to an end, Ilyas Omran of Kisenyi FC is leading the top scorer chart with 38 goals, ten ahead of his competitor Gadiffi Bazanyanengo and both top scorers are advantaged by Abasi Muluya Junior’s premature departure, who left the league with 21 goals in less than ten games.

Despite it seeming like it is over for the golden boot, there is a remarkable decline on the chart compared to last season, where Michael Lubowa won the boot with 51 goals.

For the Most Valuable Players of the season, many names are available to mention with the likes of Ian Tugume of Mengo City, Shafiq Mulangira, who only arrived when it matters and team Joshua Aziku of Park FC, Samuel Omara of Mengo City, Swaib Kazibwe of Nansana Aska, Kabowa Dream teams’ duo of Carlos Kaddu and Victor Kazibwe, Abdul Karim Tebere of Mengo City and Gadiffi Bazanyanengo of Kabuusu Clouds and Derrick Walugembe may be in the picture for the award.

For the goalkeeping award, Steven Kafuluma of Mengo City seems to be unchallenged for the award.
