Covid-19 restrictions on both social and sports events for a period of close to two years gave a number of sports grounds time to recover their green turf.

Among those that needed the forced holiday were Lugogo and Kyambogo Cricket ovals, Kyadondo and Legends Rugby Grounds.

These sports facilities also double as social events hosting venues. They host events like the Blankets and Wine picnic, music concerts among others.

Over the weekend, Lugogo Cricket Oval had Nigerian singer Fireboy DML hence national league games being forced off the national cricket facility.

Now, with such events back at the said sports grounds, sports is now playing second fiddle as they can’t compete with the money bags.

I know many out there, especially those who danced akin to possessed human beings thanks to Suuna Ben’s crazy mixes are offended.

Well, all we can say is, Cricket is one of the surface sensitive sports disciplines and concerts do come with all sorts of shoes and plastic chairs that damage the green turf.
