The National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs tip off this Friday at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, with KIU Rangers player Ines Kanyamuneza brimming with confidence ahead of their quarterfinal clash against defending champions UCU Lady Canons.
After weeks of preparation, Kanyamuneza says the Rangers are ready for the challenge.
“We haven’t just known about the game today. It’s been some time now, so we are prepared and ready to go,” she said.
The opening night schedule changed after the highly anticipated JT Jaguars vs City Oilers series was scrapped due to an eligibility dispute involving Oilers stars Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider.
That pushed the KIU vs UCU showdown into the spotlight, tipping off at 7 p.m., followed by Sommet facing KCCA Panthers at 9 p.m.
NBL Committee Chairman Fredericks ‘Freedom’ Owora promised fans a thrilling postseason.
“These are going to be the most competitive playoffs ever. All the top eight teams earned their spots,” Owora said.
“We couldn’t host all the games at Lugogo, so Jaguars Den in Kira will also stage some fixtures.”
Fans can expect more than just basketball. Through the Flexipay platform, there is a 50% discount offer on cashless tickets, reducing prices to shs 5,000.
Flashbox, represented by JKL Lady Dolphins star Flavia Oketcho, has also lined up fan challenges, including a sh1m half-court contest and other giveaways.
