After an unexpected pause the night before,  Uganda Cranes returned to training on Sunday, settling nerves and sharpening focus as the AFCON opener draws closer.

The team trained at Stade Olympique Annex on December 21, 2025, just two days before their opening AFCON 2025 match against Tunisia on Tuesday.

The session came as a relief after Saturday’s planned workout was abruptly called off.

According to the team programme released by media officer Stephen Mayamba, the Cranes were scheduled to train at 4:00pm on Saturday.

The coaching staff had already set out the equipment on the pitch, but minutes later everything was packed up and the squad returned to the team bus and back to the hotel, leaving many surprised.

Head coach Paul Put offered little explanation, only suggesting that the disruption could affect his plans, a brief response that reflected the tight margins of tournament preparation.

Sunday’s session restored a sense of calm. The players trained with intensity and purpose, fully aware of the challenge ahead against Tunisia.

There was also a lighter moment after training, as FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim shared laughter with senior players Denis Onyango and Khalid Aucho, a small but welcome sign of ease as the countdown continues.
