The Uganda Senior Women Football National Team, the Crested Cranes, received a boost with the arrival of new coaching staff members David Ribeiro (Goalkeeping Coach) and Ashley De Beer (Sports Scientist).

The team is currently in camp preparing for two friendly matches against Morocco during the upcoming Women’s International break.

The first match will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Le Mardi Stadium in Casablanca, while the second will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Stade Moulay El Hassan in Rabat.

These matches will mark the first time Head Coach Sheryl Botes will lead the team since her appointment on November 15, 2023.

Botes conducted her first training session with the Crested Cranes on November 23rd, and she was impressed with the attitude of her players. However, she acknowledged that it will take time for the team to fully implement her philosophy.

“I think the attitude was good because the players were eager to learn,” Botes said. “I know the first few sessions will be hard for some to understand what I want exactly, but I know it is a process and we shall get better.”

“My philosophy is to keep the ball and use it frequently,” Botes added. “So this is what I want to bring to the team.”
