Uganda women’s national football team, the Crested Cranes captain Ruth Aturo, has returned to Saudi Arabia to play in the First Division League.

Aturo already made her debut in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, keeping a clean sheet in a 6-0 win, after joining First Division League club, Al Taqadom WFC.

In November, 2022, the Crested Cranes captain joined Al-Shabab Women FC in Saudi Arabia where she made her debut in a 4-0 win over Eastern Flame and went on to win a Bronze medal with the team.

At the start of 2023, the former Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC goalkeeper returned to Uganda and later joined Vihiga Queens of Kenya on a short term deal, and featured in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers.

Aturo has been without a club since which made her miss some National Team engagements this year but has returned to Saudi Arabia. However, this time she has joined First Division League not Pro Women’s League club.

The experienced custodian made her Crested Cranes debut in July 2016 in an international friendly against Kenya Harambe starlets in Kisumu.

The experienced goalkeeper has previously played for Al-Shabab FC in Saudi Arabia, FC KTP Kotka in Finland, Vihiga Queens in Kenya, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and UCU Lady Cardinals in Uganda.

Aturo is one of the most decorated Ugandan players having won the Best Player of year award in 2018, four league titles and the FUFA Women Cup.

Arturo is known for her confidence and leadership on the pitch and is good with aerial balls and in one-on-one situations.
