The Uganda Cranes Women’s National Football Team head coach, Sheryl Botes, has named a 38-player squad to prepare for two friendly matches against the Democratic Republic of Congo. The games are scheduled to take place in Kinshasa on October 27th and 30th, 2024.

The summoned squad includes five goalkeepers, ten defenders, thirteen midfielders, and nine forwards. The players will begin training camp on October 19th, with foreign-based players expected to join the team by October 21st.

Coach Botes believes these friendlies will be crucial preparation for the upcoming CECAFA Women’s Championship in Ethiopia. She stated, “We last had an engagement in December last year, and I believe we needed competitive games to assess the players’ level. Unfortunately, we couldn’t compete at the COSAFA Championships due to unforeseen circumstances, but thankfully, DR Congo agreed to play two friendlies with us.”
