Cricket Cranes bowl off with a commanding (DLS-method) 77-run win over Nigeria in a rain-hit Pearl of Africa T20 Series match on Friday morning at Lakeside Oval.
Batting first, Cricket Cranes posted a strong 180 for 4 in 20 overs. Robinson Obuya led the way with an unbeaten 58 off 39 balls, while Raghav Dhawan and Shrideep Mangela each added 33. Cyrus Kakuru hit a quick 26, and Dinesh Nakrani closed with 13* off 7.
Nigeria’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with only Sylvester Okpe standing out, finishing with 1 for 27 from four overs.
Rain revised Nigeria’s target to 163 in 18 overs, but their chase never got going. Isaac Danladi (26) and Selim Salau (24) offered brief resistance, but Uganda’s bowlers remained in control.
Matthew Musinguzi took 2 for 16, while Juma Miyaji, Alpesh Ramjani, Frank Nsubuga, Dinesh Nakrani, and Cosmas Kyewuta all bowled tight spells to restrict Nigeria to 85 for 5.
The win gives Uganda, a timely confidence boost ahead of their next match against the UAE on Saturday afternoon.
