Series: Uganda wins 2–1

Uganda’s Cricket Cranes closed their South African tour on a sour note on Wednesday, falling by four wickets to the SuperSport Titans XI (SPICA) at the Tuks Cricket Oval in Pretoria.

Batting first, Uganda never settled. Early strikes from Reo Sakurano-Thomas and Natenzi Denenga left the top order in tatters.

Only Robinson Obuya showed resistance with a gritty 38, while Juma Miyaji added 16 before the innings crumbled to 89 all out in 17.1 overs.

The chase wasn’t entirely smooth for the Titans. Thinus Gouws fell lbw for a duck, and spinners Alpesh Ramjani Ravilal and Henry Ssenyondo claimed two wickets each to keep the game alive.

But Nathan Trevethan’s composed 44 off 36 balls, aided by Tlhowi Davies (17) and Divan De Villiers (22 off 15), carried SPICA to 90/6 with 18 balls to spare.

The result highlighted Uganda’s lingering batting issues despite an otherwise strong tour.

Earlier, the Cranes beat DP World Lions by five wickets on Sunday and edged a tense two-wicket win on Tuesday to seal the three-match series 2–1.

“We have a lot to learn from this game,” Obuya admitted. “As batsmen, we must find a way to score consistently so our bowlers have something to defend. We’re a strong side, but we need to back ourselves more.”

Uganda now heads to Harare, Zimbabwe, for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers starting September 26, hoping the lessons from Pretoria fuel their push toward the 2026 T20 World Cup.
