Cricket Cranes off to India for training camp

The Cricket Cranes are currently on their way to India where they will spend the next 12 days in preparations for their maiden World Cup come June.

The side is set to play at least nine T20 practice games against select sides in India.

They will during their stay in Saphale Maharastra face the Mumbai Cricket Association Senior Men’s team, teams from Mumbai A Division, and Omtex ICWC Senior Men’s Team.

Jackson Ogwang, the current interim head coach travelled with 15 players. They include among others debutant Innocent Mwebaze, returnees Juma Miyagi and Cosmas Kyewuta.

Wicketkeeper Fred Achellam and top order batter Ronald Lutaaya also make their return.

Before their departure, Ogwang spoke to the UCA media team. He says they’re looking to expose some new faces in the team in their bid to expand their team ahead of the World Cup.

“We are excited by the visit to Omtex as we continue our World Cup preparations, this opportunity allows us to train in a World class facility as we continue to fine tune our skills ahead of the World Cup.

“This tour also allows us to look at some players that need the exposure to make sure we have an extended team as we get close to the World Cup.”
