Uganda’s national men’s cricket team, the Cricket Cranes, has moved up to 21st in the ICC Men’s T20 International rankings after winning the Pearl of Africa T20 Series in Entebbe.

The Cranes went unbeaten in the five-team tournament that included Namibia A, Kenya, Nigeria, and the UAE, leapfrogging Papua New Guinea, who drop to 22nd.

The win adds another milestone to Uganda’s growing presence in world cricket. Analysts credit the rise to the team’s consistency and tactical discipline.

Still, experts say climbing higher will take more than home wins. Uganda needs to regularly beat stronger teams, especially in major competitions like the T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Improving fielding, death bowling, and building depth across the squad will be key to staying competitive on the international stage.
