Uganda’s national cricket team, the Cricket Cranes, has announced their squad of sixteen players for a four-match 50-over series against Papua New Guinea (PNG).

This series serves as a warm-up for both teams, as PNG prepares for their Challenge League A tournament in Kenya next week and Uganda readies for their Challenge League B which will be hosted in Kampala in November.

The series is the 1st international engagement for the Cricket Cranes since the T20 World Cup in West Indies in June, PNG and Uganda were in the same Group C at the World Cup with Uganda making history by defeating PNG by 3 wickets.

This is a preparation series for our upcoming tournament. We have to try different combinations and players and we are not thinking about the results now. We want to get the right players and combinations for future tournaments. We have had challenges with our preparations, especially the skills sessions but I am sure the boys will give their best on the field to make Ugandans proud,” Abhay Sharma – Cricket Cranes Head Coach
