The Cricket Cranes negotiated a tricky tie against the Yellow Greens of Nigeria to win by 23 runs and earn themselves a place in the Saturday afternoon final.

Nigeria won the toss and elected to bowl 1st, they had Uganda pinned to the wall at 39/4 until a 55-run partnership between Fred Achellam (28) and Dinesh Nakrani (32) settled the run-scoring for Uganda and a late charge from the rare guard pushed the score to a respectable 151 in 20 overs.

Nigeria failed to sustain the great bowling inside the 1st 10 overs when Uganda had only 53/4 allowing Uganda to score an additional 100 runs in the final 10 overs.

In the run chase, Frank Nsubuga bowled a mean spell inside the power play giving away just two runs in his two overs that kept the Nigerians behind the game in the run chase.

Nigeria was very slow to get out of the blocks and only a late surge from Sylvester Okpe who scored a blistering 41 off 22 balls put some pressure on Uganda but it was a little too late as the side ran out of resources with 23 runs required for the win.

Uganda with a perfect record of seven out of seven with two games of the group stage left before the final on Saturday.
Uganda will take on Rwanda tomorrow morning as they wind up their group stages.
