The Cricket Cranes will be traveling to Namibia on Tuesday, July 4th for the Castle Lite Series, scheduled to take place between July 5-13th.

The series will see the return of opening bowler Juma Miyaji, who missed the Cricket Cranes’ trip to Nairobi for the Continent Cup due to a back injury. He will be joined by Ronald Lutaya, who also missed Uganda’s triumph in Nairobi due to university exams.

Cosmos Kyewuta is still recovering from an injury he picked up during trials in South Africa, but Cricket Cranes coach Laurence Mahatlane will be hoping that the rest of his squad will be fit and ready for the World Cup Qualifiers that are set to take place in Namibia in November.

Mahatlane says that the Castle Lite Series will be an important part of the team’s preparation for the Qualifiers, as it will give them a chance to acclimatize to the conditions and get to know their opponents.

“It is a very important part of our journey to November,” Mahatlane said. “Playing in Namibia won’t be strange to anyone by the time the Qualifiers arrive. Understanding of the opposition and conditions is very important.”

The Castle Lite Series will be played in both the T20 and 50 Over formats, with the former taking place between July 5th and 9th. The 50-Over matches will then follow on July 11th and 13th.

Uganda lost the series 2-1 in T20 last year, but drew 1-1 in the longer version.
