Uganda’s Cricket Cranes kicked off their South African training camp with a five-wicket win over the DP World Lions on Sunday at the Tukscricket Oval, a timely boost ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in Harare.

Bowling first, Uganda dismissed the Lions for 109 in 19 overs. Cosmos Kyewuta (2/14) and Dinesh Nakrani (2/25) struck early, before spinners Juma Miyaji (3/23) and Henry Ssenyondo (2/22) finished the job. Only Dylan Nicholus (24) and Yusuf Ravat (16) offered resistance.

Chasing 110, the Cricket Cranes got home in 16.3 overs. Gaurav Tomar made 35 from 27 balls, Robinson Obuya added 23, and Nakrani sealed the win with an unbeaten 29 off 21, partnered by captain Riazat Ali Shah (10*).

The victory gave Uganda valuable momentum, with both bowling discipline and batting depth standing out.

The team continues its camp in Johannesburg till September 17 as they play more games with Titans before heading to Zimbabwe later this month for the qualifiers.
