Chennai CC won by 126 runs
On Easter Sunday when the biggest numbers of Cricket fans were feasting on chicken thighs and resting on satisfied stomachs, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, Chennai Cricket Club was busy bossing the day with a dominant display over Iganga Cricket Club by 126 runs, climbing to second place in Group B of the Cricket Uganda Men’s 50-Over League Bronze division.
With the match reduced to 30 overs due to delays, Chennai made their intent clear after choosing to bat.
An early wobble saw two quick wickets fall, but Aneef Sha Mohamed and Barath Balakrishnan steadied the innings and took control.
Aneef led the charge with a quickfire 70 off 49 balls, hitting boundaries with ease and putting Iganga on the back foot.
Barath complemented him with a calm 70, guiding the innings and ensuring Chennai posted a strong 202 for 8.
Iganga’s bowlers had their moments, with Mutekanga Samuel Allan picking up three wickets, but too many extras handed Chennai an added advantage.
The chase never got going. Chennai’s bowlers struck early and kept the pressure on, leaving Iganga struggling throughout.
Aneef returned with the ball to claim three wickets, while Zakir Hussain Mirza also took three to wrap up the innings.
Iganga were bowled out for just 76 in 18.4 overs, with only brief resistance from Mutekanga Samuel Allan.
It was a complete performance from Chennai, sharp with the bat and ruthless with the ball.
