Ismaili Community CC won by 68 runs

Ismaili Community CC produced a disciplined all-round display to defeat SKLPS CC by 68 runs and maintain their unbeaten start in the Silver category at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

The victory pushed Ismaili to the top of the table with two wins from two matches and also avenged last season’s painful one wicket defeat to the same opponents.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Ismaili were bowled out for 169 in 40.1 overs. Kamran Wali Khan set the tone early with a quick 44 off 28 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Captain Riazat Ali Shah added 23, while Imtiaz Ali (19) and Ghulam Hunzai (13) chipped in to keep the innings moving. A late contribution of 14 from Shehran Ali helped Ismaili push their total close to 170.

SKLPS bowlers kept things tight, led by Dinesh Manji Vekariya who returned impressive figures of 4 for 32 in his 10 overs. Navin Pindoria picked up two wickets, while Gajpariya Rinkesh Ramesh and Varsani Nimesh Shamji each took one.

Chasing 170, SKLPS struggled to build partnerships. Chetan Halai tried to hold the innings together with a patient 30 off 75 balls, while Vishal Bandheri provided brief resistance with an aggressive 31 off 25 balls that included three sixes.

But Ismaili’s bowlers remained in control. Junaid Khan delivered the decisive spell, taking 4 for 12 in 8.5 overs, including five maidens, to break the chase.

Captain Riazat Ali Shah also played a key role with the ball, claiming six wickets for 60 runs, while Kamran Wali Khan added 2 for 23. Ghulam Hunzai and Kashan Yar Baig also chipped in as SKLPS were restricted to 101 for 9 in 33.5 overs.

Junaid Khan was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

In the Bronze category, Pak Shaheens CC stunned Group B leaders Kifaru CC with a five-wicket victory at Florida Cricket Oval.

Kifaru posted 148 all out in 27.5 overs, with wicketkeeper Utkarsh Kothari leading the scoring with 63 off 50 balls. Devansh Patel added 38, but regular wickets slowed their progress.

Pak Shaheens chased confidently, reaching 154 for 5 in 21.2 overs. Sunil Kumar led the charge with an unbeaten 67 off 40 balls, while Abdul Basit Habib added 39 and Athar Ali contributed 22. Sunil Kumar was named Player of the Match.

Elsewhere, Jinja SS CC and Tornado CC were both awarded wins after their opponents, Mukono Development and Premier CC respectively, forfeited their matches.
