Rain threatened to disrupt the match, but the weather held as Wanderers delivered a strong performance with both bat and ball.

Wanderers posted 278 all out in 48.3 overs after several batsmen made useful contributions. Hitesh Prajapti and Edgar Mudoola led the scoring with 41 runs each, attacking the Nile bowlers early with confident stroke play.

After a brief middle order collapse, Ivan Kakande steadied the innings with 38 while Muhumuza Daniel added a quick 47. Ian Bamutaraki chipped in with 31 as Wanderers built a challenging total.

Lennon Kangume was the pick of the Nile bowlers with four wickets, while Chris Yussuf Namuhoranye and Yves Cyusa claimed two each.

In reply, Nile struggled from the start against Wanderers’ disciplined bowling. Eric Mukisa led the attack with three wickets for 36 runs in 10 overs, including two maidens.

Ivan Kakande struck early to remove Chris Yussuf Namuhoranye, while Mukisa and Muhumuza Daniel kept the pressure on as wickets fell steadily. Anderson Waiswa also picked up two wickets as Nile were bowled out for 113 in 27.5 overs.

Only Kato Wilson offered some resistance with an unbeaten 21.

Mukisa was named Player of the Match for his three wickets, two maidens and contributions in the field.

“I’m happy to win the award,” Mukisa said.

“I stuck to my line outside off stump and the captain’s field settings helped me control the runs and take wickets.”
