The Cricket Women League Division 1 returned in play over the weekend with defending champions Aziz Damani stamping their authority once again.
Playing at Lugogo Cricket Oval, they barely broke sweat in their 10 wicket win against Tornado Bees.
Tornado won the toss to bat first and Damani’s classic bowling efforts restricted the bees to 24 runs all out, making it the lowest score of the tournament this far.
Damani’s Stephanie Nampiima was outstanding in the game picking 3 wickets for her side and collecting 15 runs with the bat, the highest score for this particular game.
Other players that stood out for Damani were; Alako Proscovia with 10 runs and Ann Nyapendi who picked up 3 wickets.
Tornado’s Likicho Martha scored 9 runs the most for the Bees. Damani had their opening batters finish the job and are yet to drop points this season.
In Entebbe the Soroti Challengers recovered from their derby loss to Olila High School to pick up a big win against Pioneer.
Youngster Achawo Sandra was the anchor for Soroti’s innings with 63 runs as they put on a big total of 220 runs.
The other contributors were Christine Anayo and Rehema Akiteng with 36 and 22 runs respectively.
It was another tough day for Pioneer who are still looking for their first win of the season. The fact that they had only 9 players for the game, did not not help either.
That said though, they managed to collect 53 runs with Ibongu Rebecca and Alungat Eunice contributing 14 and 10 runs respectively.
