The Batball MAXX T20 Challenge Cup came to an end on Sunday evening at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe, drawing the curtain on two hard fought weeks that clearly showed who is ready for the biggest stage of Season Two.

As the official qualifier, every match mattered. From early on, Blasters made their intentions clear. Calm, consistent and decisive, they stayed in control throughout and finished exactly where they belonged, at the top.

Blasters sealed the title a day before the finale, leaving them to watch the final matches from the sidelines before stepping forward to take home their honors even without a trophy.

It was an unusual finish, but one that spoke volumes about their dominance over the tournament.

The double round robin format tested depth and consistency, and Blasters passed every test. They won nine of their ten matches to finish on 18 points and lead the 2025 standings. Gladiators chased them closely but ultimately had to settle for second place.

Even with the champions already decided, the final day still had its moments. Royals ended their campaign on a high with a convincing nine-wicket win over Strikers.

Strikers posted 119 for eight, with Timothy Kawanguzi (25), Robinson Obuya (24) and Fortunate Alijuna (20) offering some resistance.

Royals then made light work of the chase, guided by Anas Baig’s unbeaten 55 and Perry Wazombe’s 32, reaching 120 for one in 17.4 overs.

Earlier, Warriors finished strongly with a 19 run win over Gladiators in a rain shortened five over match.

Ronald Lutaaya provided the spark with a rapid 45 off 15 balls, lifting Warriors to 70 for five. Gladiators replied with 51 for three, Gerald Olipa top-scoring with 23.

Individual honours rounded off the tournament. Joseph Baguma stood out, taking both the Most Valuable Player and Best Bowler awards, while Simon Ssesazi was named Best Batter.

When all was said and done, the spotlight remained on Blasters. With nine wins, one loss and control from start to finish, they set the standard at the 2025 Batball MAXX T20 Challenge Cup and booked their place on the biggest stage of Season Two.

The MAXX T20 Challenge Cup was a brand new addition to the BATBALL Program.

It was introduced to deepen competition, strengthen the pathway, and ensure that only the top performing players advance to BATBALL MAXX Season Two.
