The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has paid tribute to Darius Mugoye, the Second Vice President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), who passed away on Tuesday morning at Mengo Hospital.
In a condolence message, USPA described Mugoye as a “champion of development football” and a “guiding force” for the sport in Uganda.
“His knowledge of the game and his clear vision for its future were undeniable and inspiring,” the message read.

“He was not only a colleague in the numerous football projects we collaborated on but also a guiding force whose passion for the sport was infectious.”
Mugoye is credited with playing a key role in the development of youth football in Uganda, and he was also instrumental in Uganda’s successful bid to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with Kenya and Tanzania.
FUFA has announced that there will be a vigil at FUFA headquarters on Tuesday, followed by a church service at Namirembe Cathedral on Wednesday at 7am.
Public viewing of the body will take place at Nabweru playground at 10am on Wednesday, before it is transported to Mugoye’s country home in Rubanga, Sheema district for a vigil.
Mugoye will be laid to rest in Rubanga on Thursday at midday.
