Home Football David vs. Goliath: Victoria University Takes on Makerere in University Football League

Makerere University and Victoria University will kick off their University Football League campaign on Thursday, September 19th. The match-up promises to be a thrilling battle between two determined teams.

Victoria University, under the guidance of Coach Emmanuel Amagu, is eager to break its losing streak in season openers.

In the last two editions Victoria University has lost both of its opening games, losing 2-0 to UCU and 1-0 to IUIU respectively but coach Emmanuel Amagu claims they will beat the odds this time round.

Despite facing an uphill battle against the formidable Makerere side, Amagu remains optimistic about his team’s chances.

“Just like David defeated Goliath, we can overcome the odds,” Amagu declared. “This is a crucial game for us to gain momentum and build confidence.”

Makerere University, led by experienced coach William Kasozi, is also determined to start the season with a victory. Kasozi knows the importance of a strong opening performance to rally fans and set the tone for the rest of the group stages.

While Kasozi acknowledges the challenge posed by Victoria University, he remains confident in his team’s ability to secure a win. “We need to approach this game with caution and play to our strengths,” Kasozi stated.

The match between Makerere and Victoria University is expected to be a closely contested affair. Both teams are eager to make a statement and establish themselves as contenders for the league title.
