Defending champions Uganda Martyrs University will face a stern test against Muteesa I Royal University in the quarterfinals of the University Football League following Friday’s draw.

Held at Kati Kati Restaurant, the draw set up a mouthwatering Masaka Road derby, with Uganda Martyrs starting their title defence at home in the first leg. The tie is expected to be one of the standout clashes of the round.

The ceremony was overseen by Martha Soigi, alongside Obal Atubo and League Manager Anthony Tumwesigye.

The eight teams had been divided into two pots, with top group winners in one and the remaining qualifiers in the other.

Kampala University, Muteesa I Royal University, Ndejje University and YMCA Comprehensive Institute were drawn against St Lawrence University, Kumi University, Uganda Martyrs University and Bugema University.

Elsewhere, Kampala University, unbeaten in the group stage, will face Bugema University.

St Lawrence University meet Ndejje University in a repeat of last season’s quarterfinal, while debutants Kumi University take on YMCA Comprehensive.

Teams from the second pot will host the first legs, scheduled to be played between 23rd March and 4th April 2026, before the return fixtures the following week decide who advances to the semifinals.
