Kitara Football Club, in an effort to strengthen its foundation, has reinstated its historic leader Deo Kasozi for the post of President.

This was confirmed this afternoon, October 3, at a press conference held at the Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala.

Deo Kasozi, speaking at the conference, focused on giving Kitara FC a foundation that can sustain it forever. “I had decided to step down from the leadership of Kitara FC, but I have come back after the management of the team called me back.”

“The last time we focused much on winning games, which we achieved but this time we will focus on giving Kitara FC a foundation that can sustain the team in the long run beyond our lifetime. This does not mean that we will not win games; we will do it.”

Deo Kasozi resigned as President of Kitara FC at the end of the 2024-2025 season, and it has taken him less than four months to return to lead the team.

His first term started in 2022 when Kitara FC were cut, and in his first leadership, he brought in coach Sam Ssimbwa, who brought the team back to to Premier League.

After returning to the Uganda Premier League, the team was handed over to coach Brian Ssenyondo, who won the Uganda Cup and then managed to qualify for the continent in the Confederation Cup, where things did not go well, like the rest of the 2024-2025 season.

During Kasozi’s absence, Kitara FC has been led by Gilbert Nyaika as interim leader, but Deo Kasozi recently returned to Kitara FC as Chief Community Mobilizer before his return for the presidency.
