The Uganda Rugby Union is set to sign an extended Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Dubai 7s.

The partnership is in line with the legacy programs to restructure and ameliorate age-grade rugby development, provision of equipment, and player exchange programs.

The Dubai 7s For Good program is already running with North Road Primary School in Mbale and is now in its second year.

Through the contributions of The ‘Dubai 7s For Good’ – Emirates Dubai 7s CSR program, in partnership with Impact Adventures, the program is ensuring that there is coaching for children and training adults.

It also empowers communities, cultural exchanges, improved education facilities and infrastructure, and linking rugby to Health and Prosperity.

The primary focus in Year One was infrastructure which saw new works done on two blocks and addressing water supply.

To this effect, the team has championed the drilling of an on-site development well and installed pipes and a pump with six water stations around the school.

Year Two will focus more on school repairs (Block 3) and rugby clinics for different age groups.

The Dubai 7s team’s visit also witnessed 17 schools participate in the U16 and U14 categories this week, bringing together over 200 boys and girls.

At the climax of today’s rugby tournament, there was a groundbreaking ceremony to prepare for the Rugby stadium construction listed in DFG’s project plan for 2024.

This heartwarming move had Uganda Rugby Union officials in attendance led by President Godwin Kayangwe.

He was flagged by Dorothy Nekesa, the head of development and underage rugby, and Yayiro Kasasa, The Get Into Rugby Manager.
