2025 EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games | Football
- Uganda 2-1 Kenya
Uganda’s Members of Parliament kept their strong football run alive at the ongoing 15th East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games, edging Kenya 2–1 on Monday evening at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The win follows Saturday’s 4–1 result against Burundi and strengthens Uganda’s push for this year’s football title.
Kenya enjoyed early possession after kick-off, but Uganda created the better chances. Hon. John Lematia and Hon. Asuman Basalirwa forced early saves, while several blocked shots kept the crowd anxious under the Lugogo lights.
Uganda thought they had scored in the 11th minute through Hon. Muhammad Nsereko, but the referee ruled it out after a scramble in the box. Kenya made early changes, yet Uganda kept control.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Hon. Peter Ogwang was fouled in the area. Hon. Twaha Kagabo calmly converted the penalty to give Uganda a 1–0 lead at halftime.
Uganda struck again just after the restart. Within a minute, Lematia finished neatly to make it 2–0 and lift the home fans. Uganda pushed for a third and forced more Kenyan substitutions as fatigue set in.
Nsereko almost punished a late defensive error, but his effort flew wide.
Kenya pulled one back in the 90th minute through Hon. Eli Dominic Letipila, setting up tense final moments. Uganda stayed composed during added time and closed out the win.
With back to back victories, Uganda’s MPs move closer to claiming the football crown at this year’s Games.
