East Africa Badminton Challenge day two has decided the fate for the schools category, with Under 13 reaching the final for both genders, while Under 10 is also assured of this year’s medalists.
In boys Under 13, Hiran Aaryan defeated Ssendawula Atalas 3-1 after (5-15, 15-13 and 15-11) in the Semifinal to reach the final, where he will face Malik Juma Amjd, who defeated Daksh Undani Nehal with straight sets (15-5 and 15-9).
In girls, Samara Sayed and Berindah Nakintu reached the final after overcoming Tongoi Precious Walda 3-1 and Shekina Azhar 2-0.
In Under 10s, girls have also set foot in the final, where last year’s winner, Umaimah Nabasirye, will face Agatesi Blessing.
Umaimah fought hard to defeat Calorine Namwanja 2-1 (11-13, 15-9, 15-8), while Agatesi eliminated Zahra Muhammad with smooth straight sets (15-2, 15-14).
In boys, last year’s Bronze winner Hydary Abdallah, silver medalist Uthman Hatwib, and defending Champion Sofian Nsubuga are in the Semifinals, along with Malik Juma Asad, all at least assured of a bronze medal.
The other age group in schools challenge, Under 15, is at the round of 16. The Under 19 is just a step into the medal bracket at the Quarterfinals, while the doubles are at the round of 16 and 32.
