After leading the Kenyan Parliament to a 3-1 big win over the Ugandan Parliament in Volleyball, Honorable Dan Wanyama, who represents Webuye West, which borders Eastern Uganda, has praised the host of the 2025 Parliamentary Games for proper organisation.

“Yes, we are here in Uganda experiencing a good event. I thank Uganda for this good hospitality. So far, everything in these games is impressive. The referees, despite being Ugandans, have handled the games by the rules and not by interest. Therefore, I appreciate Uganda.”

As the 2025 East African Parliamentary Games continue in Kampala, Uganda, in volleyball, Kenyan MPs defeated Ugandan MPs, setting their fans up for big celebrations amid the disappointments of Ugandan MPs and fans.

The match, played on December 10 at Makerere University Arena, saw Kenyan MPs start the game strong, winning the first set 25-23. Uganda pulled nerves to win the second set 25-12 with Mawokota North MP Hillary Kiyaga and Igara West MP Luis Gaffa Mbwatekamwa leading the way.

However, the third set turned into a major disappointment for MPs from Uganda, despite starting well before Honorable Mbatekamwa was forced off the court with a hurt foot.

At that moment, Uganda was leading 22-17, but the Kenyans took the opportunity to win the set 25-23 and head into the decisive set, which they won 25-11.

Kenya, which has won the volleyball title 13 times out of the 14 editions of the East Africa Parliamentary Games, will have to deal with Rwanda, which broke their dominance last time in the absence of Honorable Wanyama due to injury. The Webuye Member of Parliament had led Kenya’s previous triumphs.
