Elyon Volleyball Club are through to the 2026 National Volleyball League finals after a dramatic turnaround off the court.

Elyon had lost to Nemostars in the playoffs, but quickly filed a petition challenging the eligibility of two players, Salva Maria and Federicko Mujinya. That move has now changed everything.

In a letter dated March 28, 2026, Uganda Volleyball Federation president Sadik Zaid Nasiwu confirmed the decision to overturn the result.

A three-member committee reviewed the case on March 27, using the 2022 UVF bylaws and constitution, and found both players ineligible.

The ruling awarded Elyon a 3-0 win, sending them straight to the finals.

The decision is a major blow to Nemostars, one of the league’s strongest sides, whose title hopes end in controversy.

For Elyon, it is a second chance they have fully seized, earning a place on the biggest stage in Ugandan volleyball.

Nasiwu urged clubs to follow the rules, stressing the importance of proper player registration and adherence to the constitution.

As the dust settled, attention also turns to the women’s finals, where Vision Volleyball Club completed a spirited comeback against KCB Nkumba to set up a mouthwatering showdown with KCCA which served off with a KCCA 3-0 win in game one out of the 3 series.
