  • Ruby 93/10 in 16.1 Overs (Fahad Mutagana 26, Joseph Baguma 26)
  • Emerald 94/3 in 15.3 Overs (Charles Musemeza 29, Irfan Karim 29)
  • Emerald won by 7 wickets

After a disappointing loss to Sapphire in their previous match, Emerald returned to winning ways with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Ruby in the MAXX second round-robin phase on Tuesday, March 18 in Lugogo.

After winning the toss, Ruby opted to bat first but struggled against a disciplined Emerald bowling attack.

Frank Nsubuga (3/7 in 4 overs) and Suleman Sharif (4/18 in 4 overs) ripped through the Ruby batting lineup, restricting them to 93 all out in 16.1 overs.

Despite fighting knocks from Fahad Mutagana (26) and Baguma Joseph (26), wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Four batters were dismissed for single-digit scores, and Roger Galiwango Mukasa fell for a duck.

In response, Emerald chased down the target comfortably in 15.3 overs, finishing at 94/3. Although they lost Suleman Sharif and Simon Ssesazi cheaply, Charles Musemeza provided a quickfire 29 off 16 balls, while Irfan Karim (29) and Ronald Lutaaya (22) calmly guided the side to victory.

Baguma Joseph, Ignace Ntirenganya, and Roger Galiwango Mukasa picked up a wicket each for Ruby, but their efforts were not enough to stop Emerald’s charge.

With this victory, Emerald completed a double over Ruby and regained momentum ahead of their next game against Gold, who secured a five-wicket win earlier in the day with a standout performance from Kenneth Waiswa, who scored a maiden half century.
