  • UAE -W: 76/0 in 8.2 Overs (Esha Oza 48, Theertha Satish 22)

UAE -W won by 10 wickets

Uganda’s batting troubles showed no sign of easing as the Victoria Pearls fell to a heavy 10 wicket defeat against a ruthless United Arab Emirates side in their third ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy loss on Tuesday at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground in Bangkok.

UAE won the toss and sent Uganda in to bat, an option that paid off immediately.

The Pearls, who have battled to post competitive totals throughout the tournament, could only scrape together 75 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Captain Janet Mbabazi tried to steady the innings with a patient 16 off 26 balls, but once she fell in the 10th over, the collapse deepened.

Uganda slipped from 38 for 3 to 38 for 5 in the space of an over, and the innings never recovered.

Kevin Awino fought through for an unbeaten 13 off 30 balls, while Prosscovia Alako (12 off 18) and Consy Aweko (9 off 12) added small but important runs. Still, with only four boundaries in the entire innings, Uganda never found momentum.

UAE’s bowlers were sharp and disciplined. Vaishnave Mahesh led the attack with 3 for 21, supported by Michelle Botha (2 for 6) and Heena Hotchandani (2 for 10), who kept Uganda under constant pressure.

Chasing 76, UAE made it look easy, Captain Esha Oza dominated from the start, blasting 48 off 30 balls with seven fours and a six. Theertha Satish added a calm 22 off 20.

The pair knocked off the target in just 8.2 overs without losing a wicket, as Uganda’s bowlers struggled to create any chances.

The loss, Uganda’s third in the tournament, again exposed the team’s biggest challenge, finding batting stability. The Pearls have yet to post a total strong enough to trouble the top sides.

Uganda return to action on Wednesday, November 26, against hosts Thailand at the same venue.
