With the Futsal Uganda Cup 2025-2026 set for a final scheduled for Friday, March 13 at Old Kampala Indoor Arena, Entebbe Cheaters is running equal to the challenge against Mengo City despite their unnoticed start to the campaign.

The tournament that attracted 14 teams from the beginning, Entebbe Cheaters was one of the two teams that got a bye in the round of 16, along with Lubaga Grameen.

The Cheaters came into recognition at the Quarterfinal when they came Coach-less and humbled Mbarara QC, a side which was well-equipped. Brenda Nakayenga stole the show with a brace as they were winning 3-2.

At the Semifinal, they went on to stop Kisenyi FC 3-2 on spot kicks following a 2-2 draw from normal play to storm into the final.

On the other hand, Mengo City at the round of 16 eliminated Lubiri Falcons with a 3-1 win, went on to stop Lubaga Grameen with a 5-0 win, and in the Semifinal, they packed out Nansana Aska with a 3-1 win.

Heading into the final, which will kick off at 17:00, the Cheaters, of course, will rely on Brenda Nakitto, Nankya Hilda, the lady always in hijab Rukia Nabusoke the captain, and the Goalkeeper.

In the game, Mengo City will carry their high hopes on Angel Nakitto, who stands favorite to win the top scorer chart. She is on 4 goals along with Hadijjah Nandago of Mbarara QC, while Brenda Nakitto is a goal behind the two.

With the hope of scoring highly tasked on Angel Nakitto, others like Goalkeeper Patricia Nabwire, Asiimwe Grace, Shaminah Nalubwama, and Monica Nalubega will have to maintain their peak.

Meanwhile, in the Men’s cup, Mengo City is in a title defense as they are set to take on Mbarara QC in the final at 19:00 at Old Kampala Arena, the 2024-2025 Uganda Cup champions, Mengo City, continue to be a strong nut to crack as they continue winning in every way.

With Mbarara QC coming to challenge, they will look at their captain Gilbran Nduhukire’s performance, Shafick Mulangira, Eria Kabagambe, Owen Othieno, and Kenneth Majara. However, Mengo City remain in pole position as the most balanced side with the best fixo, wingers, and target.

Despite going without Abdul Karim Tebera, who received a red card in the semifinal, other stars like Samuel Makmot Omara, Joshua Aziku, Captain Antony Male, Billy Nkata, Ian Tugume, Abdul Swabur Mugenyi, and maybe the return of Farouk Tumwesigye, Arafat Kabanda, Akram Ssali, and John Musasizi may come with sparks.
