2025/26 Kampala Region League | Thursday March 26,

  • Mutungo FC 0-1 Born Talent FC

In the Kampala Region 3rd Division League, former players have continued to hurt Mutungo FC with Farouq Kayigwani joining Tom Lwanga in inspiring Born Talent FC to register a double over rivals.

Kayigwani, who crossed from Mutungo FC to Born Talent in the recent transfer market, scored the only goal of the game on his first return to Luzira Prisons ground in the game played on March 26.

With the goal that decided the rivalry which nearly became bloody with most of the players getting booked, Kayigwani collected the man of the match award for his entire performance throughout the game, and in the post-match interview, he noted,

“It feels good to return home and prove your importance. I have shown that I deserve to keep my number. For the man of the match, I am grateful to God who enabled me to put on this performance. Then, I thank FUFA for putting this motivation; honestly, I needed this man of the match award and I want to continue pocketing it.”

Meanwhile, Mutungo’s Reymond Witaikire said, “To our fans, we are sorry; for sure, we failed to do enough. We are having bad days; now we are winless in the last three games because we have some key players with injuries, but the season still continues, and we are hopeful to correct this.

Against Born Talent FC, they have beaten us twice, but thanks to FUFA, we still have to play them in the next round, and we will pay them back.”

In the game, Mutungo FC hugely missed the leadership of first-team captain Aaron Junior Musiima, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

However, losing the game will haunt them for their wastefulness, as players like Talib Yakole, Wasswa Dickson Kigongo, and Deogracious Adule all had big chances but failed to kill them.

fail.

In the first round, Born Talent won 2-1 courtesy of Tom Lwanga who had just crossed from Mutungo FC to decide the game which he first faced the Luzira-based side after being their player.

Now as the battle to reach the third round continues to heat up,  Black Stars, Mutungo FC, PCCP FC, Proline FC, Born Talent FC, and Edgar’s FC are occupying the top six which progress to the third round of the league.

Mutungo FC will have their three remaining fixtures at Home as they will host Edgar’s FC on Saturday Match 28, Police Young on April 5, and Kisugu FC on April 11 while Born Talent will have all their remaining three games on the road to PCCP FC on March 28, Mbogo FC on April 5, and Police Young on April 11 the same dates as Mutungo FC.
