Ruth Aturo, the captain of the Uganda women’s national football team, the Crested Cranes, is set to return to Saudi Arabia to play for a Pro Women’s League club.

Aturo is expected to join another Saudi Pro Women’s League side, although the name of the club has not yet been confirmed.

It is believed that Aturo turned down offers from several top clubs in Uganda and Denmark in order to take up the lucrative contract in Saudi Arabia.

The experienced goalkeeper has previously played for Al-Shabab FC in Saudi Arabia, as well as FC KTP Kotka in Finland and UCU Lady Cardinals in Uganda.

Aturo is a highly experienced goalkeeper who is known for her incredible saves and leadership skills.

She made her Crested Cranes debut in July 2016 in an international friendly against Kenya Harambe starlets in Kisumu and has gone on to win numerous awards over the years.

She has been playing for Vihiga Queens in the recently concluded CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers where they finished fourth, and she’s set to leave the club.

Aturo is currently in camp with the Crested Cranes squad preparing for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers double header against Algeria.
