Express FC coach James Odoch has pledged to enhance his team’s performance following their goalless draw with Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium.
“We’re going to strive for improvement. We didn’t perform as we had anticipated. This was due to our extended absence from competition. However, I am confident that with time, we will reach our desired level,” remarked Odoch.
The Red Eagles returned to action after a three-week hiatus.
This was a consequence of FUFA suspending their matches against SC Villa and Wakiso Giants following the assault on assistant referee Fahad Ssekayiba on his way home after the 1-1 draw with UPDF in Bombo.
Despite this draw, Express remains undefeated in six matches and sits in fifth position.
In the tie between Wakiso and Express, there was an improvement from the visitors, who lost to Wakiso 3-2 at Kabaka Kyabaggu last season.
Wakiso entered the Friday game in second-to-bottom position with four points, but the point gained at home propelled them to 14th position with five points. BUL still leads the table with 18 points.
Their coach, John Luyinda, believes they didn’t manage the game effectively.
“We were at home and should have utilized that to our advantage. We failed to convert the chances we created. We shall try to see that we address that,” remarked Luyinda.
