Express FC has landed in hot water with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) following fan misconduct during their dramatic 2-2 draw with Vipers SC on April 11th at the newly renovated Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.

The FUFA Disciplinary Panel found that the seven-time Uganda Premier League champions breached Article 14 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, citing fan hooliganism as the reason.

Tensions boiled over at full-time after Vipers’ Gusto Mulongo netted a late equalizer, leaving Express supporters fuming over the match officiating.

According to FUFA’s ruling, Express fans threw bottles at match officials, an act that violated Article 14(11) of the Code and was deemed a serious breach of conduct.

In response, the disciplinary panel handed Express a suspended deduction of two points and two goals, a penalty that will only be enforced if similar incidents occur again.

In addition, the club has been fined UGX 1,000,000, payable within 14 days of the ruling. Express FC has also received an official warning over future behaviour.

The Red Eagles will continue to prepare for their return to action on Thursday, April 24th with a home clash against UPDF FC.
