FUFA president Moses Magogo has defended Express FC, saying that the club is not guilty of the hooliganism that was committed by some of its fans after the team’s 1-1 draw with UPDF FC last Friday.
Magogo said in a social media post that the incident is a police case and that two fans have already been arrested.
He also said that FUFA will engage with the Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA), but that it is important to make it clear that hooliganism is bad and should not be tolerated.

As we speak @ExpressFCUganda is not guilty and no sanctions have been given.

This is a police case and investigations are on going.
So far two people have been arrested in connection to the incident.
As a federation we will engage our member (UFRA) but one thing must be made… pic.twitter.com/ESLnO3gdU7
Magogo’s comments come after the FUFA Executive Committee suspended all matches involving Express FC following the attack on assistant referee Fahad Sekayiba. Sekayiba was beaten to near death by a group of Express fans after the UPDF match.
UFRA had earlier announced that its members would no longer officiate Express matches until the culprits are brought to justice.
Express FC has already distanced itself from the hooliganism incident, saying that it does not condone any form of violence.
