Uganda Crested Cranes forward Fauzia Najjemba has taken a big step in her growing career, sealing a move to the United States after signing a two year deal with NWSL newcomers Boston Legacy FC.
The 22 year-old joins the Massachusetts club as a free agent following the end of her contract with Russia’s FC Dynamo.
Boston Legacy confirmed the signing on Tuesday, with the agreement also carrying a mutual option to extend.
“I’m really excited to join Boston Legacy,” Najjemba said.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity and ready to give my all for the team. I’m proud to represent Boston and can’t wait to get started.”
Najjemba becomes only the second Ugandan to play in the NWSL, following defender Shadia Nankya, who joined Washington Spirit last year before spending the season on loan at Dallas Trinity in the USL Super League.
Her rise has been steady and well earned. Najjemba came through Mukono High School and Isra Soccer Academy before making her mark at Kampala Queens.
She later gained continental experience with Kazakhstan side BIIK Kazygurt and moved to FC Dynamo in 2023.
Founded in 2023, Boston Legacy are gearing up for their first season in the NWSL, and Najjemba’s arrival brings speed, experience and a touch of African flair as the club steps onto the biggest stage of women’s football in the United States.
